1 Russell Peters Deported World Tour (May 17)

Russell Peters was the first comedian to get his own stand-up special on Netflix. This Canadian stand-up comedian and actor is scheduled to perform at Cape Town’s Grand Arena as a part of his Deported World Tour to South Africa this weekend. Russell has a Gemini Award on his shelf, as well as the prestigious Peabody Award. This is his third visit to Africa and most of his previous shows here were sold out. The tickets for this event cost between R650 and R750.

2 Craft Brewers – Powwow (May 17-19)

Beer lovers looking for things to do in Cape Town this weekend can visit the Craft Brewers – Powwow festival.  The event attracts everyone from commercial craft brewers to home brewers and folks who like drinking craft beers. There will be a conference with presentations from both international and local speakers. Brewery tours, tasty food, and a couple of educational workshops will be available.

3 Eseltjiesrus Book Fair (May 17)

Eseltjiesrus Book Fair is celebrating its 13th anniversary this year.  Book lovers from all over the region are invited to come to McGregor’s Eseltjiesrus Donkey Sanctuary where this amazing book fair is taking place. Expect to find thousands of reasonably priced new and pre-owned books, as well as a unique read and storytelling theatre which promotes the culture of reading among kids. The entrance to the book fair is free.

4 Barleycorn Music Club Festival 2019 (May 18)

To listen to some of the best live acoustic acts and bands from Cape Town pay a visit to Claremont this Saturday where the Barleycorn Music Club Festival is taking place. The line-up includes acts like Boulevard Blues, Fruit Vendor, Alanna Joy, Berrisford Rose, Jules Terea, Celine and band, Luca Hart, Oh Mercy, and Mae Sithole. Visitors will have an opportunity to win a Fender Paramount PM-1 Guitar through a lucky draw which is available for all ticket holders. The entrance to the festival costs R120 at the gates or R100 for visitors who purchase their tickets online.

5 Cabernet Franc Carnival 2019 (May 18)

Looking for things to do in Cape Town this Saturday? Visit the 5th Annual Cabernet Franc Carnival and taste a variety of local wines. The carnival celebrates the best cabernet francs in South Africa and visitors can buy wine directly from the producers. Tickets cost R250 per adult and include an R50 food coupon and a branded wine glass.
