From a stellar comedy show to a nice Christmas market and a festive marathon, there are many amazing events in Cape Town this weekend.

1 Comedy Show Make Me Laugh (December 20)

Welcome to the Christmas edition of the Comedy Show Make Me Laugh at the Continuum Coffee in Woodstock. The headlining act is the famous KG Mokgadi and the line-up includes names like Vee Morton (Durban), Vafa, Mario Campbell, and Prince M’baya and a couple of surprise acts. Besides great comedy nights, Continuum Coffee offers delicious food and tasty coffee. Tickets for the event cost R60 per person and the show starts at 8 pm sharp.

2 Spier Festive Run 2019 (December 20)

If you are looking for amazing events in Cape Town, I suggest participating in Stellenbosch’s Spier Festive Run which is hosting a 3km fun walk-run, 5km run, and a 10km trail run. Since Christmas is right around the corner, participants are encouraged to dress up in bright colors. There will be food and drink stations at both the start and the finish line, as well as a few spot prizes for participants. By joining this event and paying the admission that ranges from R30 to R100, you will be helping the Sunday Specials organization that finds homes, rescues and rehabilitates animals.

3 Franschhoek Village Christmas Market (December 21-23)

The festive holiday season is upon us and there are many Christmas-themed events taking place in and around Cape Town. One of these events is the amazing Franschhoek Village Christmas Market which lasts for 3 days and offers plenty of entertainment. Expect to find 100 hand-picked traders selling everything from vintage clothing, antiques, and local arts and crafts to artisan foods, fresh produce, craft beers, and wine.  Newton & Co, Guy Veltman and Peter Wyness will be there to entertain the crowds with their live music performance. This is a pet-friendly event and there is a nice play area provided for kids.

4 Christmas Spectacular @ GrandWest Arena (December 21-22)

There are many amazing events in Cape Town during the holiday season and Hillsong Church South Africa’s Christmas Spectacular at the GrandWest Arena is one of the most anticipated events this weekend.  This extraordinary musical stage show is here to entertain visitors will music, carols, and much more. From ballet performances to Santa Claus’s appearance and dances to Christmas classic songs, there is plenty to look forward to at this family-friendly show. Tickets for the Christmas Spectacular will set you back R50 per person.

5 Cirque Royale @ Kenilworth Race Course (December 21)

Presented by Fashion Clubbers, Cirque Royale offers plenty of entertainment for visitors. The event features plenty of food trucks and markets, as well as horse racing and a gin and beer garden. There is also live entertainment with headliners including Majozi and The Kiffness. The after-party set features many DJ’s such as Kyle Cassim, Strange Loving, Chris De Vos, Paradise Citizens, Playground Twins, Carlo Massa, and Adyn Dust Aenmey. VIP options will be also available and include a fenced-off private area, VIP couches, and a Bedouin stretch tent.
