The holiday season is upon us and many amazing events are happening in Cape Town on the weekend. From popular sports events to summer festivals and Christmas preparation shows, South Africa’s Mother City offers a variety of interesting things to do this weekend. 1 Cape Town Sevens (December 13-15)

Rugby is a major sport in South Africa and Capetonians love this game. Therefore, it comes as no surprise that the HSBC Women’s Seven Series at the Cape Town stadium in Green Point is one of the most anticipated sports events happening in Cape Town this year. Over three days, visitors will have an opportunity to watch twelve top women’s rugby teams on the pitch including South Africa, New Zealand, Fiji, Russia (Pool A), Canada, France, Spain, Brazil (Pool B), USA, Australia, England and Ireland (Pool C). You don’t need to be a sports fan to enjoy this extraordinary event in Cape Town. Everyone will be there and so should you!

2 V&A Kids Christmas Show (December 13-24)

Head out to the V&A Waterfront’s Amphitheatre this Friday to see the opening of the V&A Kids Christmas Show. The free event features two famous characters Zoemba and Jelly, as well as activities for the little ones like face painting, coloring-in competitions, and sing-alongs. The amazing Rhino (Zoemba) and his awesome sidekick elephant named Jelly will be singing cheerful songs and playing fun games with the little ones.

3 Gabriëlskloof Favourite Things Market (December 13-15)

Many excellent events are happening in Cape Town on the weekend and the Gabriëlskloof Favourite Things Market is one of them. This annual pop-up affair is taking place at the Gabrielskloof Wine Estate and features over 30 stalls selling everything from fresh plants and ceramics to leather goods and silk wear. Most of the items at the market are handmade and delicious. There will be live music and other entertainment for visitors.

4 Mirage Forever Summer Concerts TiMO ODV (December 15)

Welcome to the 3rd edition of the Mirage Forever Summer Concerts at one of the largest yachts in South Africa, the popular Mirage. The award-winning artist TiMO ODV is the star of this 6-hour cruise. Whether you wish to try delicious gourmet foods, take a dip in the ocean, or just enjoy the spectacular views of the city, there is plenty to look forward to at the Mirage Forever Summer Concerts event. Tickets for the event range from R850 to R1200.

5 Bubbly & Gin Summer Festival (December 14)

Besides tasty drinks, guests can also enjoy delicious gourmet foods and live music throughout the day.
