Perfectly positioned in the heart of De Waterkant Village, The Charles is an intimate and charming Guest House.
Inspired by traditional European City boutique hotels, The Charles has 11 rooms, 3 duplex cottages and a quaint cafe serving some of the best coffee and breakfast in the city.
Our guests enjoy exclusive use of the roof decks overlooking the city as well as access to the tours and adventures desk to ensure you make the most of your stay.

Location

Tucked between Table Mountain, the CBD and the V&A Waterfront, De Waterkant Village, home to The Charles, borders the Cape Town Fan Mile and is within walking distance to Cape Town Stadium.

De Waterkant is often described as being arty, charismatic and quaint and is a truly special place decorated with gorgeous al fresco restaurants, sidewalk café’s, boutiques and bars and is often compared with Greenwich Village.

Guests are invited to sit back, relax and enjoy our location form our rooftop terrace that boasts incredible city views, that sweep all the way down to the V&A Waterfront and across to Table Mountain.

Café Charles

Headed up by Justine Burger, Café Charles is fast becoming one of De Waterkant’s most loved institutions. This could be credited to the waiter’s friendly welcomes, the barista’s delicious coffees, or the chef’s culinary delights or a combination of the lot that make the whole experience just perfect. From decadent breakfast to Cape Malay feasts, a visit to the Café is a “must add” to your visit in De Waterkant list.

Parking

Unfortunately, parking is very limited in De Waterkant Village; however, secure underground parking is available at the Cape Quarter Shopping Centre at an additional cost. The parking area is centrally located and within easy walking distance to the main shops, boutiques, restaurants, and other activities.

Function facilities

The Charles has two spacious roof decks from which guests can enjoy beautiful city and Table Mountain views. From the courtyard of The Charles, a wooden staircase leads up to the main deck, with another wooden staircase leading up to the upper and slightly smaller deck. The main deck boasts an outdoor barbeque. The roof deck is ideal for an intimate cocktail party, team building event or a special birthday party.
