From picnics at some of the most picturesque wine estates in the region to romantic dinners in upscale candle-lit restaurants, you are bound to find something you like.
Without further ado, here is our list of surprisingly romantic places in Cape Town you should visit with your loved one this Valentine’s Day.
1 Valentine’s Day @ Two Oceans Aquarium
Tired of all the usual date spots for Valentine’s Day in Cape Town and wish to do something different this year? We recommend paying a visit to the Two Oceans Aquarium with that special someone and hanging out with a variety of fishes and other marine life such as sharks and seahorses. There are 40 picnic spots available and each one includes a picnic basket with delicious foods like herb butter, hummus, cheese, pate, Caesar salad, and chocolate. Arrival drink is included in the price of the ticket. You can even bring your own bottle of wine, but keep in mind that the corkage fee is R30.
2 The 41
Camps Bay’s popular seaside spot 41 is well known for its laid-back vibe, stylish clientele, and a romantic beach setting which makes it an ideal place for Valentine’s Day. Try the artisan cocktails and go for a sunset stroll on the beach with the person you love. Once you get hungry, the 41 has got you covered with their delicious menu which features everything from burgers and prawns to steaks, pasta, and pizza. There will also be live entertainment and the famous international DJ, El Conchitas is scheduled to perform right before the sunset.
3 Valentine’s Day @ Harbour House Kalk Bay
If your idea of a romantic Valentine’s Day includes enjoying spectacular ocean views, drinking a bottle of bubbly, and sampling a delicious set menu, a visit to Harbour House Kalk Bay is simply a must. Nestled on the rocks in the popular Kalk Bay harbor, this place has it all. From a picturesque blue and white interior to food delicacies like oysters with chili, fresh scallops, and salmon tartare, an evening at Harbour House Kalk Bay promises to be a memorable experience for Valentine’s Day in Cape Town. 4 Valentine’s Day Picnic @ Jordan Wine Estate
Not many places in South Africa are as beautiful as the Stellenbosch Kloof Valley and its Jordan Wine Estate. The beautiful picnic set-up on the lawns at the Bakery and a fire show at the Psychedelic Theatre make for a perfect Valentine’s Day experience. Chef Thys Esterhuysen is in charge of creating a perfect picnic basket which includes everything from freshly bakes bread, cheese, and charcuterie to pineapple skewers, chicken liver, brandy pate, and roasted shallot. Make sure to leave some space for a slice of their signature tiramisu. Want to hear more good news? Jordan Wine Estate offers Valentine’s gift for every couple.
5 V&A Food Market
If you are looking for a casual and festive place for Valentine’s Day in Cape Town, head out to the V&A Food Market. This two-story indoor market is home to more than 40 vendors selling sushi, ice cream, smoothies, oysters, and much more. It’s a great spot for couples who have just started dating and are not up for overwhelming romantic settings. We’ve heard that many of the stalls will be selling Valentine-themed foods and drinks at the V&A Food Market which I find super cute.
