Previously titled Clifton Shores, and now renamed to Cape Town – The Shores, this reality show filmed in Cape Town is back for a second season of drama, glamour and glitz. The Shores is a reality show in the vain of Jersey Shores, featuring a cast of models, trend-setters and socialites. As the name implies, the show is filmed in Clifton – Cape Town’s exclusive beach suburb near Camps Bay.
The Shores follows the adventures of Quinton van der Burgh – a mining magnate and billionaire. Surrounding him are “bikini babes, mansions, bling and fights” as the reality cameras and drama follows him and the various models, socialites, friends and business contacts that converge around him. Like any other reality TV show worth its salt, plenty of ‘oh em gee’ moments abound.
Cape Town – The Shores: Season 2
The original Clifton Shores was screened in 2012 by M-NET’s Vuzu, and had mixed but generally favourable reviews. The first season centred on Quinton and a group of gorgeous American girls who were living in Cape Town and experiencing the city’s nightlife, beaches and world-class sights. The second season is a little different in ways beyond its name change. An un-named sourced revealed to Channel24 that, “This time around Quinton and his guy friends become more of the focus of the new season, compared to the American girls of the first season.”
According to Quinton, “This show was shot with the intention of reaching a global audience and we’re planning to air the show online to expand its presence internationally, rather than only airing it in South Africa. We promise to deliver more drama, entertainment and gripping reality TV than ever before.”
The Shores season 2 cast includes the following:
* Jade – an ‘opinionated’ model and blogger’
* Jamie – a local surfer and male model
* Ryan – a ‘bad boy’ and Muay Thai fighter
* Michaela – Quinton’s American PA who hales from Vegas
* Courtney – a fashion designer
* Kerry – a blonde Cape Town model
* Justin – Quinton’s best friend and personal trainer
* Christina – a part-time model, socialite and private pilot
Love them or hate them, reality television shows seem to show no sign of going away any time soon… in South Africa or anywhere else! Cape Town – The Shores is sure to have its share of mixed reviews, and while it likely won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, we are all for anything that puts our beautiful suburb of Clifton on the map!
