One of the most popular family destinations in the Western Cape, Hout Bay hosts the Bay Harbour Market this weekend. Get ready to for an abundance of festivities and the awesome August sale where you will find everything from bags and clothes to souvenirs. Of course, there will be live music, 5 Levels Up is performing today, Friday, while Saturday and Sunday are reserved for Brothers Inc and Don’t Poke the Bear. 2 Simonsig Vintage Day (August 25)
Simonsig Vintage Day at the Simonsig Wine Estate in Stellenbosch is one of the most exciting events in Cape Town this weekend. The event includes a master class, entertainment for the family, wine tastings, and music. Visitors will have an opportunity to sample a variety of matured wines from one of the best wine estates in South Africa. Tickets for the Vintage Day Celebrations cost between R165 AND R415.
3 Cape Town Bands Festival (August 25 – 26)
Head out to the V&A Waterfront Amphitheatre for the Cape Town Bands Festival this weekend. Enjoy 2 days of local bands including the Medicine Dolls, Orah and the Kitees, Frances Clare, and many others. The live music industry in Cape Town is quite exciting nowadays and there are many talented local acts worth checking out.
4 Blisters for Bread Charity Family Fun Walk (August 26)
Celebrating its 50th anniversary, Blisters for Bread Charity Family Fun Walk will take place at the Green Point Cricket Club this Sunday. There will be two routes along the Sea Point Promenade, a 5 km walk that is scheduled to start at 8 am and 10km walk that will start at 7:30 am. The event is limited to 13,000 participants and the starting point of this family fun walk is on the Fritz Sonnenberg Road which is located right next to the Cape Town Stadium. The good news is that nearly 2,000 schools for children will be feed from the fund raised by the entry fees alone. Each participant will receive an ice-cold Coca Cola and a medal. 5 Opera Gala at Three Anchor Bay Dutch Reformed Church (August 26)
The Three Anchor Bay Dutch Reformed Church is hosting the prestigious Opera Gala this Sunday and this is going to be one of the most exciting events in Cape Town this weekend. The Opera features performances by Garth Delport, Keanen Lyle Mithcell, Brittany Smith, and Jacobi de Villiers. Visitors will be entertained with ensembles, arias, and duets from different operettas, operas, and musicals. Some of the performances will include Mozart’s Non più andrai from Le nozze di Figaro, Bizet’s Seguidilla from Carmen, von Gluck’s Che faro from Orpheo ed Euridice, and more.
