The V&A Waterfront is one of the most popular locations for tourists in South Africa’s Cape Town. With its magnificent views, classy hotels, and high-end shops, it’s not difficult to understand why the area is a hot spot for thousands of travelers. On top of this, Cape Town Waterfront is home to some of the best restaurants in Cape Town.
Whether you are looking for an intimate restaurant with candlelit tables that serves local specialties or you wish to have dinner at an International fine dining establishment that offers spectacular mountain views, there is no shortage of excellent restaurants in Cape Town’s V&A Waterfront. To help you choose where to go for lunch or dinner, we’ve handpicked some of the best restaurants in Cape Town Waterfront.
1 Den Anker
Den Anker is a fabulous Belgian-influenced restaurant situated quayside at the V&A Waterfront. Besides amazing views of the fancy yachts, this place serves some seriously delicious foods. From seasonal seafood favorites such as oysters, plump scallops, and mussels to traditional South African delicacies like foie gras brulee, everything you order here is pretty much great. We also like the relaxed ambiance of this place, as well as their extensive list of premium Belgian beer which is served on tap. If we had to choose my favorite dish on their menu, it would have to be steak tartare.
2 Willoughby and Co
One of the most popular seafood restaurants in Cape Town, Willoughby and Co is a great Japanese dining establishment where specialties like crispy tempura dishes and flash-grilled Salmon Saikyo Miso Yaki can be found on the menu. Many people consider this place at the best sushi joint in all of Cape Town and judging by the constant queues, this just might be true. Our favorite thing to order here is the 4×4 sushi combo.

3 The Greek Fisherman
Opened back in 1992, the Greek Fisherman is the oldest dining establishment at the V&A Waterfront. Famed for its wide range of mezze platters and an extensive menu of traditional Greek and Mediterranean dishes, the Greek Fisherman is a great place to enjoy hearty food. Go for their signature lamb in the oven or order the famous seafood platter which comes with line fish, mussels, calamari, prawns, and crayfish. In case you are not sure which wine to order, the restaurant’s Sommelier can assist with wine and food pairing options. Did we mention the spectacular views of Table Mountain?
4 Balduccis
There are many great Italian-themed restaurants in Cape Town, but Balduccis at the V&A Waterfront is one of the best ones. Set in a cozy and elegant setting, the award-winning eatery offers traditional Italian cuisine such as gourmet pizza, pasta, and seafood, as well as a full vegan menu. We like the Melanzane alla Parmigiano, as well as a wide range of pizzas like Osso Buco and white pizza with mozzarella. The service at the restaurant is gracious, the interior looks amazing, and the food is prepared with passion.

5 Si! Cantina Sociale
Situated in V&A Waterfront’s Silo District, Si! Cantina Sociale is a chic and modern restaurant that focuses on meals made from fresh and locally sourced ingredients. Expect to find plenty of breakfast, lunch, and dinner options, as well as a nice selection of cocktails, smoothies, and fragrant coffee. The cuisine can be best described as the Mediterranean with signature dishes such as calamari and fresh rocket, grilled half chicken, beef riblets, and the steak roll. In case you have some space left for dessert, we recommend ordering malva pudding or dom pedro (ice cream with whiskey infusion).
