Located in the heart and soul of the CBD, Greenmarket Square is found in one of the Mother City’s most well-known historical squares, the Greenmarket Square. The Greenmarket Square Flea Market is therefore one of Cape Town’s oldest markets and definitely worth a visit. Known as one of the best places to find African souvenirs and crafts in Cape Town, it truly is any African curio shopping enthusiasts dream come true! You can expect to find anything from beadwork, sculptures, beautifully crafted bowls, artwork, jewellery and so much more! It’s lively atmosphere and vibrant entertainment ranging from buskers, drummers, traditional African dancers and mime artists makes it a real pleasure to explore. The Greenmarket Square is open between 09:00 and 16:00 Monday to Friday and between 09:00 and 15:00 on Saturday. But just before you go, here is a little insider’s tip: You better bring your bargaining A-game, as prices are highly dependent on how well you bargain. Located roughly 10 minutes outside of the city, Milnerton Flea Market can be found along Marine Drive just a stone’s throw away from Lagoon Beach in Milnerton. Known as Cape Town’s famous bargain hunter’s destination, the Milnerton Flea Market has grown substantially since its inception and now occupies a space equal to 4 football fields with the striking Table Mountain as your bargain-hunting background. Known for its ‘something of everything’ atmosphere, you’re guaranteed to pick up a crafty treat or two, and if not, an antique tea set, vintage car part or old war medals will have to do. This vibrant open-air bazaar is also family friendly and has broad walk-ways that are suitable for prams and wheelchairs. It is open on the weekends so be sure to pay it a visit! A quick insider’s tip: This is Cape Town bargain-hunting at its very best, so get ready to bargain hunt like you never have before. It’s also quite a popular flea market so be sure to get there nice and early to ensure you get all the best deals!

Inspired by the car boot sales in France, Die Kattebak (directly translated to the ‘car boot’) flea market is located at the Palms in the trendy Cape Town suburb of Woodstock. Here you’re bound to find some retro gems, clothing and accessories as well as a wide selection of seconhand goods ranging from books, stunning antique tea sets and handmade items. If you’re into vintage you’ll be sure to love every second you spend at the Kattebak Market. And once you’ve worked up an appetite thrift shopping you can indulge in a variety of their artisanal food and drink stores located downstairs. This trendy Woodstock flea market is held on the second and last Saturdays of every month so make sure you mark it on your calendar!

Green Point is known as the hip and happening suburb of Cape Town, it’s thriving and has something for everyone, so it makes sense that that’s exactly what the Green Point Flea Market is all about too. Located in the main parking area of the Cape Town Stadium this vibrant flea market has over 400 stalls selling anything from cooking and electrical goods, books, magazine, crafts, antiques and hardware. So if you’re not sure exactly what you’re looking for, visit the Green Point Flea Market, because you’ll certainly find it there. They also have an amazing food emporium where you can enjoy some local Cape Town favourites like fish & chips, boerewors rolls, and Cape Malay delicacies. The market opens between 8:30am and 5pm every Sunday.

It truly is any thrift-shopper’s dream come true and once you step foot inside you’ll know exactly why. Located in the charming and equally trendy seaside town of Kalk Bay this quaint little shop is a delightful hub of secondhand goods, you’ll also be able to get your hands on various unique antiques including military paraphernalia, silverware and numerous odds and ends that have been collected by the owner over the past 25 years.
