The house itself is nestled at the foot of the Outeniqua Mountains in a tranquil setting called Eden, which is adjacent to the Katberg Nature Reserve. Its meandering garden, tumbling river and comfortable ambiance, make it a sheer pleasure to return to after a day of exploring the Garden Route and surrounds.
OUR ROOMS
Edenwood House has a lot to offer our guests, and the rooms are no exception, which is one reason why we are consistently a top rated Guest House in George, and 4-Star rated by the Tourism Grading Council of South Africa. Each room is individually decorated with it’s own personality and the high quality mattresses and fine linens make them comfortable and cosy. The bathrooms all have showers accompanied by soft towels and toiletries. Heaters, fans, safes, hairdryers and free WIFI are available within each room.
This is our newest majestic and very popular spacious suite. Suitable for single or double occupancy (honeymoon couples!) or for two friends sharing, as the bed can be either a super king or twin 3/4 extra length beds. It is upstairs in the guest house. Peaceful and with lovely views. The 55″ TV has a full DSTV package. The new en suite bathroom comes with extra large shower. The room leads to a private wooden balcony overlooking the pool, garden and forest.
A great place to relax, and watch the birds in the garden, whilst sipping a glass of wine during the lovely summer evenings. The separate new modern granite kitchen has a two plate ceramic hob and solar dome oven, refrigerator and is fully equipped. – It can be booked as either B&B or self-catering. The newest option for this suite is an adjoining bedroom (Mountain View Room) and bathroom, so that it can become a two bed roomed / two bath suite for a family or group of friends. This option is available on request.
Regency Suite
This beautiful and richly decorated room is downstairs in the main guest house. It is peaceful and calming in shades of green with cherry accents. The bedroom hosts a pillow-top queen sized bed, solid oak furniture and en suite with shower, which flows down one step into the lounge area, with bay windows overlooking the garden. The television is equipped with a DVD and Satellite decoder. – This room is suitable for single occupancy or double sharing, but also has the added advantage of a bed/settee in the lounge section, in case of a child traveling with parents and wishing to share.
The Annex Suite
This is a spacious upmarket modern unit with private entrance. The granite kitchenette has a glass top hob, microwave/grill and small refrigerator and is fully equipped for two people. It flows into the spacious lounge area which has a flat screen TV and DVD with hotel satellite programs. One step up, leads to the separate bedroom which has a lovely firm/ high extra length queen sized bed and en suite with wall to wall shower. – This room is suitable for single or double occupancy only and can be booked as either B&B or self-catering.
Lemon Tree Cottage
This popular and charming unit, is situated in the garden and boasts a lovely view of the Outeniqua Mountains from the upstairs balcony. It is suitable for single or double occupancy and can also host a child on the bed settee in the lounge if required. This is not recommended for a long stay as the bed settee when extended will take up most of the living space, but can be tucked away during the day.
The lounge is downstairs with Flatscreen TV and satellite decoder, leading out of a sliding door to the patio with Webber barbecue pit. The adjoining kitchen is fully equipped with stove and microwave and refrigerator. Upstairs there is a very comfortable queen sized extra long/high bed and a Flatscreen TV with satellite. The bedroom looks out onto the balcony and also has en suite bathroom with shower. Separate entrance and secure parking. – It can be booked as either B&B or self-catering.
Wiltshire House
This very spacious house affords plenty of comfort for friends traveling together or families. It can potentially sleep six. There are three bedrooms, two with queen beds and en suite bathrooms with shower and one bedroom with twin beds and a separate bathroom with bath and shower. All bedrooms have TV which is centrally controlled by the main television in the lounge, with DVD and satellite decoder.
The lounge has air-conditioning (that is available on request at a daily electrical surcharge cost). There are sliding doors from the lounge that flow out to the garden with undercover barbecue area. There is a dining room leading into the divine granite kitchen, which is fully equipped with fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave and glass top stove and oven. Secure undercover parking is steps away. – This is a self-catering option, however if requested breakfast can also be arranged at the guest house for and additional charge, and service of house for reasonable rates.
Poppy Room
This room is best described as our “Matchbox” room. It is suitable for single occupancy or double sharing, and is downstairs in the main guest house. For those on a “tight” budget it is a great option (Room size 3.1 x3.4 meters). Although the room is compact and unfortunately does not have the view, it does have a comfortable double bed and flatscreen satelite television, radio clock/alarm, heater panel and safe.
The en suite has a generous shower and is decorated in lovely bright red and white. For a limited stay or for a single this room is quite comfortable, however if you have a lot of luggage we will gladly re-store it for you until your departure to give you space in the room.
