La Grenadine
An absolutely charming French inspired petit hotel (in French ‘petit’ means ‘little’), but 5 bighearted bedrooms all ensuite with garden or mountain views right in the heart of Cape Towns bustling ‘Kloof street’. Originally the stables, the petit hotel has incorporated the old stable walls as a raw brickwork beautifully into their design and the gardens in the center of the city are so, so special as they are filled with guava, avocado, olive trees and the old pomegranate (in french is la grenadine) which is of course where the hotel took its name from.
The décor is an eclectic mix of modern meets vintage meets industrial meets French provencial style meaning its full of flair and love by the artistic, French owners.
Outside La Grenadine you can walk into Kloof Street which has
Coffee shops, designer shops, galleries or stay in and experience la Grenadine’s spirit – a debate in front of a wintry fire, or a summer evening with the music of the extensive record collection or a choice read from the library.
We just love La Grenadine for its intimacy and location smack bang in the centre of Cape Town – it is perfect for a long weekend or a romantic short weekend or a business trip or a city break before the country.
Whichever way you look at it, c’est parfait and the plus is
a real French breakfast ‘petit dejeuner’ to look forward to!
