One of the leading cycling events in the world, the Cape Town Cycle Tour returns to the South Africa’s Mother City and welcomes nearly 40,000 participants to a 109km-long route which starts at the Grand Parade Precinct and offers amazing views of places such as Chapman’s Peak, Hout Bay, and Simon’s Town along the way. This fabulous event is a real treat for both spectators and participants.

4 High School Band Slam 2020 (March 10-13)

No list of March events in Cape Town would be complete without mentioning the awesome High School Band Slam at the V&A Waterfront. With performances from 10 Peninsula High Schools and their best local bands, this event allows visitors to discover some of the most talented young musicians from Cape Town. The top three bands will receive rewards, while the best school will get an additional R5, 000. The judges will make their decisions based on everything from artistic ability and song arrangements to interpretation and technical proficiency. The entrance to the event is free of charge.

5 AFI Cape Town Fashion Week (March 12-14)

Hosted by African Fashion International, AFI Cape Town Fashion Week showcases world-class level fashion with brands such as Shweshwekini, Andiswa Apparel, Maxhosa, Ituen Basi, Imprint, Gavin Rajah, Shana, Stefania Morland, and many others. There will be several events during the fashion week ranging from masterclasses to workshops. Apart from high-end fashion, the event also invites up and coming creative spirits and young designers to develop their skills.

6 Durbanville Plaasfees 2020 (March 14)

A superb event with plenty of entertainment and activities, Durbanville Plaasfees is taking place at the Meerendal Wine Estate on March 14th and everyone is invited to join the celebrations. There will be many stalls and delicious food, as well as entertainment such as Jolly Lollos & Lettie children show and Regardt Laubscher the magician. Popular artist Tasche Burger and Cobus & Christo are also included in the line-up of performers.

One of the best March events in Cape Town is the annual Cape Town Carnival, a street parade that celebrates the diversity of South Africa. This year’s theme is Incredible Journey: Sounds of South Africa and visitors can look forward to dancing, art, and South African music. 9 Wholesun Bread Cape Town Big Walk 2020 (March 22)

Join the Wholesun Bread Cape Town Big Walk this March in Cape Town and sign up for a 5km walk, 8km fun run, or the long 10km walk. Presented by Double “O”, the event starts right opposite of the Cape Town Stadium and goes along the Sea Point Promenade before finishing at the Green Point Shared Fields where food stalls, live entertainment, and prizes await you.

10 Cape Town International Jazz Festival (March 27-28)

Celebrating its 21st birthday, the award-winning Cape Town International Jazz Festival at the V&A Waterfront’s Lookout introduces more than 40 both local and international artists who will be performing over 2 days.
