South Africa’s Cape Town is not short of exciting events this weekend. From a cheese and wine festival to a live music performance and an old-school party at one of the hottest nightclubs in the city, there is plenty of interesting things to do in the Mother City in the next three days. Without further ado, here is my list of the most popular events in Cape Town this weekend.

1 3 Day Cheese and Wine Festival at Mojo Market (June 28-30)

All wine lovers are invited to attend the fabulous 3 Day Cheese and Wine Festival which is taking place at the Sea Point’s Mojo Market. Visitors will have an opportunity to sample some of the best wines from the region, as well as cheese, cured meats, chocolates, and other artisanal foods. There will also be live music and a bunch of giveaways and prizes throughout the event. The entrance to the festival is free!

2 The Great South African Gin Festival (June 28-29)

The Great South African Gin Festival is one of the most popular events in Cape Town this weekend. Taking place at the Castle of Good Hope, the festival offers a huge selection of gins from all around the world, live cocktail talks and presentations from gin experts, and live acoustic performances. There will be 4 gin sessions throughout the event and each lasts for about 4 hours.

3 Arno Carstens Concert by  Norval Foundation (June 29)

Presented by the Norval Foundation, Arno Carstens live in concert is an ideal event for guests who wish to listen to South African contemporary rock music. Arno Carstens is a talented platinum-selling singer-songwriter with dozens of released albums and prestigious awards. He was on tour with some of the most popular bands in the world such as the Rolling Stones and U2. Arno has also performed at dozens of huge festivals including VFestival and Glastonbury. Besides great music, visitors have an option of a dinner right before the concert at the popular Skotnes restaurant. Tickets for the 3-course dinner and show cost R550, while a ticket for the show only will set you back R250.

4 The Lawns Market (June 30)

When we are talking about the most popular events in Cape Town, it would be a shame not to mention the amazing Lawns Market at the Round House Road in Camps Bay. Expect to find a curated selection of food and drinks, as well as everything from swimwear and sunglasses to jewelry and bags. There will be live music and you can even bring your pet to this lifestyle market, as it is a pet-friendly event.

5 KFM 94.5 Vinyl Classics Party @ Shimmy Beach Club (June 28)

Put on your dancing shoes for an unforgettable KFM 94.5 Vinyl Classics Party at the popular Shimmy Beach Club in Cape Town. Dress to the nines and dance the night away to some of the favorite songs from the 80’s and 90’s. DJ Outlaw Whachead (Darren) Simpson, Brandon Leigh, Kurt the top Dawg and Garth B are in charge of spinning the records and tickets cost R120 per person.
