From a live performance by the world-renowned stand-up comedian Papa CJ and one of the world’s biggest action-packed live events to the popular cheese and wine festivals, there’s a bit of something for everyone. 1 Papa CJ @ Cape Town Comedy Club (April 24, 25, and 28)

One of India’s best stand-up comedians, Papa CJ is performing at the Cape Town Comedy Club this weekend. Forbes Magazine refers to him as ‘the global face of Indian stand-up”, while the Harvard Business Review calls him one of the most influential comedians on the planet. Papa CJ has performed around 2000 shows and appeared on many international networks such as NBC, BBC, Comedy Central, Showtime, MTV, Paramount, and The Comedy Channel. Tickets for the show range from R60 to R120 per person.

2 SA Cheese Festival 2019 (April 26-28)

Local foodies will tell you how the SA Cheese Festival is one of the best events in South Africa’s Cape Town this April. This is the biggest outdoor culinary event in the city and offers visitors a chance to try a wide variety of cheese and other products like fresh fruit, wines and, teas. Celebrating its adulthood (aka 18th anniversary) SA Cheese Festival takes place at the Sandringham Farm in Stellenbosch and lasts for 3 full days. Besides cheese and wine tasting, the festival includes presentations by celebrity chefs, child-friendly activities, and great music. Tickets cost R180 per day. Make sure to get your tickets in advance from Computicket, Shoprite and Checkers, as no tickets will be sold at the gates.

3 The Elgin Cool Wine and Country Food Festival (April 27-28)

The Elgin Cool Wine and Country Food Festival is one of the most anticipated events in the Mother City this weekend. Feel free to indulge in South Africa’s best cool climate wines and some delicious food offerings.  Entertainment during this 2-day festival includes live music, food trucks, nature walks, art exhibitions, cellar tours, and much more. A weekend pass costs R200, while a day pass will set you back R150 per person. Pets are allowed at some of the wine farms.

4 Oysters Bubbles and Blanc Festival (April 27)

Head out to Durbanville this Saturday and check out the amazing Oysters Bubbles and Blanc Festival. Whether you wish to try fresh oysters brought in fresh from the West Coast, enjoy a wide range of South African, Italian, and French wines, or attend celebrity chef demonstrations, there are plenty of activities to keep you entertained throughout the day. Besides oysters, a nice selection of food will be available at the festival. The entrance to the event costs R200 per person.

5 Monster Jam (April 27)

One of the biggest action-packed live events is coming for the first time to Cape Town. Welcome to Monster Jam, a monster truck juggernaut that features five-ton truck racing up a track full of many types of obstacles. Presented by Feld Entertainment and Showtime Management in association with Supersport and KFM, the show features some of the most famous Monster Jam Trucks such as Grave Digger, Max-D, El Toro Loco, Gas Monkey Garage, Monster Energy and Zombie. Tickets for the event range between R150 and R800.

6 Pinot Noir Festival at the Vineyard Hotel (April 28)

One of the best wine events in South Africa’s Cape Town this April, the Pinot Noir Festival at the Vineyard Hotel attracts some of the top Pinot Noirs wine producers in the Western Cape. Visitors can sample multi-faceted varietal and enjoy canapés and live music. To keep you comfortable, blankets and umbrellas are scattered on the green lawns.
