Hermanus

For a popular holiday destination you can’t beat a trip to Hermanus. Only an hour and a half from Cape Town, this seaside town is known as the best land-based whale watching location in the world!

The best time for whale watching is between August and November. These beautiful creatures can usually be seen playing in a sheltered bay just 20 meters away.

Also available are a select number of beaches allowing you to swim or take a long stroll. The nearby mountains also offer excellent hiking.

For the less energetic, Hermanus offers arts, crafts, and other shops, plus a variety of restaurants offering international cuisine, from Italian, to Thai.

Busy periods, are the school holidays in December January, and also during the annual September whale festival.
